Brittany Reid | 2009 | Midfield | Brittany Reid is a rising senior at Weddington High School and will be graduating in 2009. Brittany began playing lacrosse as a freshman and started each game on Varsity as a defender. As a sophomore Brittany started every game on Varsity again, playing mainly the defensive wing position and some center and low defense. That year, Brittany recorded 6 goals, 26 ground balls, 1 assist and 9 takeaways/interceptions and maintained a shooting percentage of 33%. She helped her team reach the State Playoffs for the first time in school history. Brittany received the Coach’s Award in 2007. Her junior year, Brittany started every game at center, recording 32 total points, 27 goals, 5 assists, 41 ground balls, 8 caused turnovers, 25 draw controls and a shooting percentage of 55%. She also earned the team MVP Award that year, was named to the NCHSWLA Southwestern All-Conference 2nd Team 2008 at the midfield position, and was selected to play in the Charlotte Lacrosse Boosters Annual High School All-Star game 2008. Brittany has participated in numerous camps and clinics, including; UNC Chapel Hill 2007 summer camp, Chicks with Sticks and Polar Bear League. She also has enjoyed helping coach young girls, teaching them to play lacrosse through various camps and clinics.
She was also a starter on the JV basketball team at Weddington her freshman and sophomore years and a member of the Varsity team her junior year. Brittany is a member of the Spanish Club and National Honor Society and the Vice President of Key Club. She has also been on the Yearbook Staff since sophomore year and will be the Spread Supervisor as a senior. Her current GPA is 4.5 with all honors and AP classes, and she is an academic letter winner for her freshman, sophomore and junior years.

Kelly Hewitt | 2009 | Attack |
Kelly Hewitt is a Rising Senior who will graduate in 2009 from Weddington High School. Kelly began playing lacrosse 4 years ago with Mecklenburg Youth Lacrosse. In her Freshman year she was on Junior Varsity as a Defender and was voted team captain. During this year, she often played-up to Varsity, where she learned many new skills. Eventually, Kelly changed her position from Defender to Attack . During Sophomore year, Kelly made Varsity where she began to develop better stick control, endurance and speed, playing as a starter in l0 games that season. In the summer of 2007 she was selected for a position on the Charlotte Queen City Stars team as an Attack player. She was also selected to play Queen City for the Fall 2007 team. Her junior year, Hewitt continued to play at Weddington, but as a midfield player, mainly attack wing and center. She totaled 11 assists, 34 ground balls, 37 goals and 56 draw controls. Currently she is looking forward to the Summer 2008 season with QC Stars. In addition, this year Kelly was selected to play in the Charlotte Lacrosse Boosters Annual High School All-Star game 2008 and was named to the NCHSWLA Southwestern All-Conference lst Team 2008.
Hewitt is also a member of Weddington's Winter Track team as a mid-distance runner. She has participated in many camps and clinics including: Polar Bear League, Lumber Jills, Face Off Clinic (South Carolina) , Chicks with Sticks, Davidson College Camp, UNC Summer Camp 2007 and Summer Sticks '07, where she received the Camp MVP award. She also attended Duke Elite Camp in December 2007.
In addition to lacrosse Kelly participates in many clubs and activities. These include Spanish Club, National Art Honors Society, National Spanish Honors Society, Weddington Health Occupations Students (W.H.O.S.), and First Priority. In both her sophomore and Junior year she was nominated to become a member of the National Honor Society. In her Senior year, she will be Secretary for NSHS and Vice-President for W.H.O.S. She maintains a GPA of 4.5 with all honors classes. Kelly has been selected to be a student ambassador for the United States People to People program. This summer she will be traveling to Australia with her delegation as an ambassador. Additionally, Kelly has helped in years past with coaching the S.K.I.L.L.S Lacrosse Camp and volunteered with Union County Special Olympics, Mecklenburg County Senior Games and participated in World Vision's 30 Hour Famine . Upon graduation in 2009, Kelly will attend college seeking a degree in dentistry and definitely wants to pursue playing lacrosse at the college level.

Meghan Koester | 2009 | Defense | Meghan Koester is a rising senior at Weddington High School and will graduate in 2009. She has 3+ years of lacrosse experience playing mainly defense and some mid-field. Meghan began playing her freshman year as a defender on the school JV club team, and was shortly moved up to Varsity. She started every game on JV and almost every game on Varsity that year. She developed the skills and attitude she needed, and sophomore year made the Varsity team, playing defense or mid-field and was often a starter. Her junior year, she participated in QCS Fall league as well as pre-season training with her coach and secured a top defensive spot on the Varsity team. This summer Meghan is looking forward to the season with the Queen City Stars, and will be traveling to Vail, Colorado to participate in the Vail Shootout. She was also selected to play on the West Team for the NC State Games. Meghan also has 3 years of experience in Cross Country and Track and has attended Planet Lacrosse Camps in Tega Cay, SC.
In addition to lacrosse, Meghan also participates in clubs at her school including National Art Honors Society, National German Honors Society, and Photography Club. She maintains a current GPA of 4.0 with Honors and AP classes. Upon graduating in 2009, Meghan plans to attend college majoring in a scientific or artistic field, and definitely wants to pursue lacrosse at a collegiate level. | #5
Meghan Brady | 2012 | Attack/Midfield | Megan Brady is a rising freshman at Providence High School. She will graduate in 2012 and hopes to attend a four-year college where she can play lacrosse or soccer. Megan is a two-sport athlete playing both soccer and lacrosse. She played for the Mecklenburg Youth Lacrosse Cyclones during the 2006 and 2008 spring seasons. During the last two summer seasons Megan played for the High School Team Charlotte travel team attending various tournaments in the Mid-Atlantic region. Megan has been a member of Charlotte Soccer Club, since 2004. She currently plays midfield/forward for a Premier Level U15 team. Megan attended South Charlotte Middle School where she consistently achieved the A honor roll. | #6
Abigail Harris | 2011 | Midfield | Abigail Harris is a rising freshman at Myers Park High School. She will
graduate in 2011 and hopes to attend a four year college where she can play
division I lacrosse. She played for the Mecklenburg Youth Lacrosse Cyclones
during the 2006 and 2007 spring seasons. She was selected as MVP by her
coaches in 2007. Abigail attended Alexander Graham Middle School where she
consistently achieved the A honor roll, and received the Jean Dixon Award
for outstanding art. During her 8th grade year Abigail was a starter for her
school softball and basketball teams. She also competed in track and field,
participating in the 100m, 4x100 relay, and high jump. She is a member of

Rachel Sweeney | 2009 | Defense | Rachel is a rising senior at Marvin Ridge High School. This is Rachel’s 2nd full year playing lacrosse. She began as a starting defender on the Weddington Varsity lacrosse program last year and was voted “Rookie of the Year” on the team. This year she converted to a mid-fielder for the Marvin Ridge Mavericks and was an integral part of the teams # 10 state ranking it it’s inaugural season. Rachel has a GPA of 4.27 in honors and AP classes. She is the Vice President of the International Club, a member of the National Honor Society and a member of DECA. She enjoys cooking, exercise, wake boarding and skiing. Rachel has a strong desire to play lacrosse in college after graduating in 2009.

Lauren Lefeber | 2009 | Midfield | Lauren is a rising senior at Charlotte Catholic High School and will graduate in 2009. She is coached at Charlotte Catholic by Dee (Brennan) Bier, a former All-America East defender, team captain and four-year letter winner at Hofstra University.

As a junior transfer to Charlotte Catholic High School, Lauren helped lead the Cougars to their first NCHSWLA State Playoff Championship game and the Southwestern Conference title. The Cougars ended the season with a record of 19-2, ranked 2nd in the state of North Carolina and 8th in the South Region (NC, SC, TN, GA, FL, TX). Lauren finished the season as the team’s leading goal scorer (48) and received the following individual honors:

Monica Francis | 2010 | Midfield | Monica Francis is a rising junior at Providence High School and will be graduating in 2010. Monica started playing lacrosse her freshman year where she secured a starting attack position on Providence's JV team. In her sophomore year Monica was promoted to Varsity and earned a starting position on midfield, scoring 12 goals for Providence in the 2008 season. For the 2009 season Monica was recently chosen as captain for the panthers along with Taylor Smith and Jasmine Dennis. During the Polar Bear season she was named MVP twice by coach Chris Anderson. In addition to lacrosse, Monica is an active member of the German Club at Providence, and has also been a Girl Scout for ten years and will be working on her Gold Award this summer in addition to QCS. She hopes to attend college in either North or South Carolina and play division II or III lacrosse. | #11
Emily Caldwell | 2010 | Defense/Midfield | As a freshman and sophomore at Myers Park High School, Emily started on the Varsity Lacrosse team as a defender and also played midfield. Myers Park completed its 2007 season ranked sixth in North Carolina and completed its 2008 regular season ranked fourth in North Carolina. Emily completed her sophomore season with 11 draw controls, 27 ground balls, and 39 takeaways while maintaining a 67% shooting average. The Myers Park team is coached by Catherine LeBlanc. Coach LeBlanc was a regular starter at St. Bonaventure University where she was a two time Academic All-American as a defender. Prior to locating to Charlotte, Coach LeBlanc served as an assistant lacrosse coach at the University of Delaware.
During the 2007 summer season Emily started as a defender for the North Carolina State Games silver medal winning Team West. During the summer of 2008, Emily was invited to play and started for Team Blue in the Charlotte Lacrosse Boosters All-Star Game. Emily will also play again in the NC State Games for Team West.
Emily is a straight A student with a 4.6 GPA on a 4.0 scale in the International Baccalaureate Program and in the top 2% or higher of her class. She is a three sport athlete, also competing competitively and internationally in basketball and crew. Emily enjoys playing the bass clarinet performing with the Myers Park Wind Ensemble as well as many honor bands including the NC State Honors Band. She carries her interest in athletics over to her work (both paid and charitable) by volunteering at the YMCA, tutoring young athletes and lifeguarding. Emily will attend the Groton School in Groton, MA in the fall of 2008.

Mikayala Sweeney | 2012 | Midfield/Attack | Mikayla Sweeney is a rising freshman for the Queen City Stars. She will try out for the Marvin Ridge High School Lacrosse Team in the fall. This is Mikayla’s second year playing lacrosse. She has been playing center for the WCWAA lacrosse program over this two year period. She lead the team in scoring and assists both years. Mikayla is currently a member of BETA club, active as a Special Olympics volunteer and was a starter on Marvin Ridge Middle School 8th grade basketball and volleyball teams. Mikayla has an A average in Honors courses at Marvin Ridge Middle School. Her hobbies include skiing, watersports and shopping. Mikayla is very excited to be a member of this prestigious team for the fall ’08 season. | #13
Lauren Menichella | 2009 | Attack | Lauren is a rising senior at Charlotte Country Day School. Lauren is captain of the
Country Day Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team and lead them to a 13-4 record. Lauren
was voted All State Attack - (Second Team), All Western Conference and voted MVP by
her teammates for 2008 season. She also had 39 goals this year and was the top scorer for her team.
Outside of Lacrosse, Lauren plays Varsity Tennis and sings in the elite Chamber Choir at
Country Day. Participants are selected based on an audition. She currently has a 3.75 gpa in the International Baccalaureate program and
is active in a variety of clubs including Big Brother/Big Sister, diversity club, and Aquilifer. Aquilifer is a girls only service club.
Lauren has attended Lacrosse Camps at Duke University (3 yrs) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1 yr).

Sandra Trybus | 2009 | Attack | Sandy Trybus is a rising senior at Marvin Ridge High School and will graduate in 2009. Sandy has been playing lacrosse for four years. She played lacrosse for Weddington High School as a freshman on JV and a sophmore on Varsity. As a junior at Marvin Ridge, she was on the Varsity team and started every game on attack. Sandy has been an active member of the international club at school and is an honors student maintaining a 4.1 GPA. | #15
Cate Auerbach | 2009 | Attack/Midfield | Cate Auerbach is a rising senior at Myers Park High School. She has been playing lacrosse for over 10 years and is looking forward to her sixth season as a member of the Queen City Stars. Cate has been a varsity starter for Myers Park for the past three years, and was named all-conference for the NCHSWLA Western Conference in 2008. She is in the International Baccalaureate Diploma program at Myers Park High School, currently holds a 5.0 GPA, and is ranked within the top 2% of her graduating class. Cate is excited about traveling this summer with the QC Stars team to Vail, Colorado and cheering on the U.S. Olympic team in Beijing, China. | #16
Lindsay Walters | 2010 | Midfield | Lindsey is a rising junior at Providence High School; she started playing lacrosse 3 years ago for the Charlotte Cyclones. Her freshman year she played junior varsity as a defender and midfielder. She developed her skills her rising sophomore summer as a player for Team Charlotte and was moved up to Varsity her sophomore year. She played as a midfielder for Providence, but her true passion is Defense. Lindsey is looking forward to a summer playing for the Queen City Stars.
Lindsey is an active member of both FCCLA and German Club. She was inducted into the National Honor Roll her freshman and sophomore year, and is planning to attend a four year college where she can study English literature and play lacrosse.

Addison Bortz | 2001 | Attack | Addison Bortz is a rising sophomore at Episcopal High School in
Alexandria, Virginia. She will graduate in 2011 and hopes to play
lacrosse at a four year college. Addison played four years for the
Charlotte Youth Lacrosse Association. She also played for the Charlotte
Country Day School Middle School undefeated team where she was a top
scorer and assist leader. She was elected captain of her team. She
currently plays for Episcopal High School where she was noted by her
coach as having excellent field vision and a strong passing ability. She
also plays for the field hockey and indoor track school teams. Addison
has attended Duke Lacrosse camp and has played in the Polar Bear and
Lumber Jill leagues in the off-season. She is a solid student who gives
100% in all that she is asked to do.

Kelly Belue | 2012 | Attack | Kelly Belue is a rising freshman at Marvin Ridge Middle School and will be graduating in 2012. She has been playing lacrosse for 6 years, while being active in cross country for the past three years. She played for the Mecklenburg Youth Lacrosse Cyclones during the 2006, 2007, and 2008 spring seasons and Team Charlotte during the summer of 2007, playing attack. This will be the first year she will be playing on the Queen City Stars white team. Kelly has attended many camps and clinics: Duke camp, Lumber Jill's fall clinics, Polar Bear winter clinics, Face Off clinic in South Carolina, Davidson clinics, and Summer Sticks camp. Kelly is a hard working athlete while striving to achieve her goals for lacrosse.
Kelly attended Weddington and Marvin Ridge Middle Schools where she consistently achieved the A B honor roll. She participated in the Junior Beta Club in her eighth grade year. As a freshman Kelly will be taking honors classes. She will carry her passion for lacrosse throughout high school and college. | #22
Amy McCalmont | 2009 | Goalie | Amy has been playing lacrosse since third grade. In 6th grade she was selected to play for the New Jersey All Stars. Amy was also involved with Metro Lacrosse Pixie Sticks out of Suffern New York under coach McKee. She began playing goal keeper three years ago and was the starting freshman goal keeper for West Morris Central High School Girls Lacrosse, in 2006. They finished 9-1-1. Amy was selected to play goalie for Steps Club lacrosse team, New Jersey in 2006.
The starting varsity goal keeper for Weddington High School Girls Lacrosse Team, 2007, she finished with 3 goals, and 3 interceptions as a field player and 105 saves, 177 shots on goal with a save percentage of 59%. Amy was selected to play for the North Carolina Girls West Lacrosse team, and played in the QC Lax Starz game, May 2007. Amy will attend Marvin Ridge High School in the fall, as a junior, and hopes to continue to play lacrosse. | #24
Brittany Rogers | 2009 | Defense/Midfield | Brittany is a rising senior at Marvin Ridge High School and will be graduating in June 2009. Before starting varsity lacrosse as a freshman, she played varsity basketball as a shooting guard and had high score for 3 games with a game high of 16 points. This year in lacrosse as a defensive mid-fielder, she had 28 goals (including 6 during state playoffs) and 43 ground balls. She has been selected to play again in the Charlotte Lacrosse Boosters All-Stars Game. As a sophomore she was named MVP Defense for Weddington High School, NCHSWLA All-Conference Defender, and was also selected to play in the Charlotte Lacrosse Boosters All-Stars Game.
Brittany has a 4.625 GPA and is in Beta Club, National Honors Society, Biology Club, and historian of Mu Alpha Theta. She also has served on U.S. Representative Sue Myrick’s Youth Advisory Council since her sophomore year. Brittany enjoys her various volunteer activities and is involved in local politics.

Alexandra George | 2009 | Midfield/Defense | Alexandra George is a rising senior at Weddington High School, and will be graduating in 2009. Growing up in New England, Alexandra played lacrosse for 2 years. When she moved to NC, she tried out for the high school team her junior, earning a starting position on the varsity team. Alexandra started every game as a midfield player, and is able to not only play midfield, but defense and attack as well. Alexandra has participated in polar bear lacrosse and Queen City Stars. Alexandra was awarded MIP, her junior year. Alexandra also played JV soccer for 2 years, and varsity tennis. She is involved in may school activities such as Key Club, Spanish Club, and Biology Club. Alexandra takes all advanced placement and honor courses, and currently has a 4.0 GPA. She is also an accomplished violinist of 11 years. Alexandra is planning on attending a 4-year college and plans on playing lacrosse. | #28
Kristen Bowman | 2009 | midfield | Kristen Bowman is a Junior at Ardrey Kell High School (class of 2009). Kristen played her first year of Lacrosse at Providence High (JV) and was the leading scorer her Freshman year. As a Sophomore, Kristen played Varsity Lacrosse for Ardrey Kell High (midfielder/attack) and was selected as Captain. She was the team’s leading scorer with 28 goals and was also chosen as Ardrey Kell’s 2007 Most Valuable Player. Kristen was recognized by the South Charlotte Sports Report as "Student Athlete of the Week." In addition, Kristen was a member of the NC All-Star West Lacrosse team, Queen City Lax Starz All-Star Team, and the State Games of NC - West team (silver medalist). Off the field, Kristen serves as Student Government-Executive Board (Vice-President), Inter-Club Council (President), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (Co-President), Yearbook (Co-editor). She is also a member of DECA, Key Club, and Interact Club. Kristen received school recognition for her Community Service hours for local non-profit agencies as well as the Yearbook Editor award, and she is consistently an Academic Honor Roll student. Caroline Driscoll | 2011 | Attack | Caroline has played for 7 years including time played in the competitive Baltimore area and has been recognized for her aggressive style of play. After relocating to Charlotte, Caroline was a member of the Holy Trinity Middle School Team and the Charlotte Cyclones and played 3 seasons for Coach of the Year and local favorite, Dee Bier.
As a freshman, Caroline was selected as a starter for Ardrey Kell’s Varsity Women’s Lacrosse Team by Coach Dr. Tina Murphy where she scored 22 goals in 14 games and has been selected a Co-captain for the 2008-2009 varsity season. She is a rising sophomore at Ardrey Kell with a 3.75 GPA.
Caroline has recently been selected as a member of the NC West Team for the 2008 State Games.

Hannah Kline | 2010 | Attack | Hannah Kline is a sophomore at North Mecklenburg High School. She started playing lacrosse in 9th grade on the JV team, and was moved up to varsity during the season. She plays either right attack or right A-wing. Before lacrosse, Hannah played soccer for 10 years. Hannah is taking all International Baccalaureate classes and is in the top 10% of her class. She also plays on the North Mecklenburg Tennis Team. Hannah was voted offensive MVP on the North Mecklenbug Team. She loves lacrosse, and hopes to pursue it in college.

Claire Sherman | 2010 | Midfield | Claire Sherman, a rising sophomore at Charlotte Country Day School, has been playing lacrosse for three years. This is her first year playing on the Queen City Stars Charlotte team. Claire was a part of the varsity team at her school in its first year, her freshman year. She was one of the top scorers for her team which ended with an 8 win: 9 loss record. Claire was on the honors list for her freshman year with a 3.7 GPA in the first semester. Claire is part of NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) and Interact, a service club. To remain NJHS, members must maintain a 3.5 GPA and complete at least four service projects ranging from 1 to 8 hours depending on the task. Claire is one of only four freshmen to make the selective Chamber Choir after auditioning at the end of the year. Claire has also taken piano for six years. | #35
Melinda Vasconcellos | 2009 | Midfield/Defense | Melinda is a rising senior at Marvin Ridge High School and will be graduating in June, 2009. She ran cross country for three years before beginning lacrosse as a freshman. That season at Weddington High, she was a starter on varsity and won Rookie of the Year. As a sophomore Melinda was named All-Conference (midfield) and MVP-Midfield for Weddington. She was also selected to play in the Charlotte Lacrosse Boosters All-Star Game. This year as a junior Melinda had 52 goals, 60 groundballs, and 20 assists. She was again selected to play in the Charlotte Lacrosse Booster All-Star Game and was named All-Conference (midfield). She also made Second Team All-State and selected to play on the Lower-Atlantic National Team and in the East verse West game. As a junior at Marvin Ridge she was named MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.
Melinda has a 4.79 GPA and is the president Beta Club as well as a member of National Honor Society, Biology Club, Mu Alpha Theta and FTA. As a sophomore and junior she received the Rotary Scholar Award. She also played two years JV basketball and one year Varsity basketball. Melinda is a senior girl scout, working toward her Gold Award.

Mara Woolard | 2012 | Goalie | Mara will be a freshman at Providence Day School this fall.
She was starting goalie for Mecklenburg Youth Lacrosse Cyclones during the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons.
She was starting goalie for Team Charlotte High School girl's team during the summer of 2007 and played in the MYL league.
In spring 2007, she was co-manager of the Providence Day School Varsity Girls Team.
Mara has participated in LumberJills (fall) and Polar Bear (winter) for the past three years.
She has attended lacrosse camps at Duke and Queens University.
This summer she plans to attend goalie camp at Roanoke College and lacrosse camps at Queens University and Providence Day.
Mara is an A student and a member of the National Junior Honor Society and Science Olympiad.

Whitney Workman | 2010 | Attack | Whitney is a rising junior at Weddington High School and will be graduating in 2010. She started playing lacrosse in the Polar Bear League and tried out for the high school team. She made the [UTF-8?]Women’s Varsity Lacrosse team as a freshman. She started on the team. She lettered in Varsity Lacrosse. The team, also, made it to the state tournament for the first time. She made 5 goals and had many assists. She, also, has played soccer for many years and went to the state championships. She had a 3.5 GPA during her freshman year. She played Queen City Stars Lacrosse team in Fall 2007.
In her sophomore year of lacrosse, she was in the starting lineup of every game. Her experience and efforts in the attack position on the field has paid off this year with a season high of 33 goals and numerous assists. She is looking forward to playing on the Queen City Stars team this summer.
Off the field she is maintaining a 3.5 GPA and is active in the French Club. She, also, has helped with the Union County Special Olympics the two years of high school. She is hoping to continue to play lacrosse at college level. |
